Tennis Info 2022

Hello KSTC Families,
We are excited to start the 2022 Tennis season next month. This email has been divided into 4 sections for ease of readability and clarity specifically; Tennis Court Access, Tennis Coaches, Tennis Team, and Tennis Lessons.

Tennis Court Access
Regular access to the tennis courts from the pool deck will return this year during normal hours of operation.  Tennis court access is available currently, as well as year round (yes that is correct every day of the year!), through the combination lock on the street side. The code for the master lock wrapped in white tape can be requested. Please make sure to relock the gate when you are done.

Tennis Coaches
Grant Harris, will return as our head coach for the season. For those who are not aware he has played tennis here at KSTC since he was 8 years old and played tennis all four years at Auburn Mountainview High School and is currently on the club tennis team at WSU and just completed his sophomore year.
Ben Portmann, will also return as the assistant coach and is also attending WSU and just completed his junior year. He has been playing tennis for a little over 13 years, all here at KSTC as part of the summer tennis team or coaching. He was a varsity player all four years of his high school career. Ben has played with our great head coach Grant Harris for a little over 8 years.

Tennis Team
We are planning for a return to matches against Arbor Heights, Gregory Seahurst, and Olympic View. Our schedule will soon be posted on the calendar. In order for your child to participate in matches there will be an assessment by the coaches to determine if they meet the requirements e.g. able to serve on their own. However, do not let this deter your child from joining the team as we will also be having inter-squad matches. Our goal is to start building foundational skills early and the positive experiences of being cheered on by teammates as they improve their backhand or master their volley will continue to build their self-confidence in the sport.
The cost for tennis team will be $100 plus a ball fee of $10 per family.

Practice schedules are:
Pre-Season June 13th – June 22nd M – Th (Except for Th. July 23rd due to a swim meet)
